Penza Olbast Trade Mission
The Chamber led a Trade Mission to Penza, part of the Volga Federal District located about 600 km southeast of Moscow, in February 2002. Representatives from five member companies were joined by a large delegation from the U.S. Embassy for meetings with local government officials, business associations and industrial leaders.
The first day of the mission was spent at the Regional Investment and Innovation Projects exhibition, where participants met with the managers of industrial enterprises, universities and businesses in Penza and the neighboring regions of Saratov and Smolensk. Following the exhibition, the group attended a seminar on regional investment opportunities, where participants met with regional officials, industrialists and entrepreneurs.
Penza Oblast Governor Vasily Bochkaryov received the delegation on the second day. The Governor emphasized the importance of foreign investment for Penza, stating that the local authorities would assist all companies and organizations that were interested in working in the region. The group also visited Stary Pivovar, a soft drink and mineral water production company that is looking for investors.
