The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia held a regional briefing on February 11, 2010, with Nikita Belykh, Governor of Kirov Oblast, who spoke on investment opportunities in the region.

Kirov Oblast has a high industrial, scientific and human resource potential and an extensive communications network. Strategic priorities of the regional government include creation of a dynamic economic climate and improvement of social conditions. The region is open to investment and has well-developed legislation geared to support private investors. The Oblast has seen a significant increase in the number of foreign investors and over eighty countries are currently investing, including China, France, Germany, Poland and Finland. Construction, biotechnology, agriculture and mechanical engineering are important industries for investors.
